There’s been a lot of talk recently about the new European Union Entry-Exit System, also known as EES. Many questions have come up, especially regarding travel to and from the Schengen Zone. As we know, Schengen or Tourist Visas allow for free travel within the European Union for a measured amount of time.
What is EES & ETIAS?
The EES, which is a border control system, is not to be confused with the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System), which is a travel authorization for Non-EU citizens who do not need a visa to travel to Europe.
When will the European Economic System (EES) become effective?
But its launch has been delayed for the fourth time since 2022. According to official EU sources, the EES was due to become effective on November 10 - just a month and a half after the announcement - although travellers will now have until next year to plan for the changes.

What is EES registration?
EES registration will replace the current system of manually stamping passports when visitors arrive in the EU. The exact date that EES will be introduced has not been confirmed. When EES is introduced, you will need to create a digital record on your first visit to the Schengen area at the port or airport on arrival.
